Artistic Work

Hanni Autere is a wide-ranging musician who thrives on many types of music and instruments. Autere, who studied fiddle-singing in her artistic doctorate, i.e. playing the violin and singing at the same time, uses many musical styles and forms of expression in her compositions.

She has 36 years of professional performing experience in the Nordic countries, Central Europe, the United States and China in addition to her home country. Collaborators in artistic productions have been e.g. Pekka Kuusisto, Iiro Rantala, Mia Makaroff, Tuukka Haapaniemi, Eero Grundström, Abdissa Assefa, Timo Alakotila and the female choir Philomela. On YouTube, Autere is known worldwide as the performer of the song “Ievan Polkka” by the band Loituma, and she has over 43,000 subscribers.

Autere has released three albums of her compositions: Puhun puille (2004), Krazem (2013) and On the Way and There (2019). Other publications include music videos, e.g. from the songs Puhun puille (I Talk to the Trees, dir. Aino Mättö / Mättö Media) Uni (Dream) and Tonttu ja lapsi (The Elf and a child). Autere appears on almost 20 albums in total. She has also written the 104-page process description Viululaulaja (The Fiddle-singer) related to her doctoral thesis.

Pedagogical Work

Hanni Autere has worked as a pedagogue at various levels of education since 1988. In addition to her main instrument, the violin, her teaching repertoire includes numerous other instruments. Autere teaches e.g. Finnish and Irish folk music and classical music in various educational institutions, courses and privately. She has pedagogical studies in classical and folk music as well as adult and university education. Autere also fulfills her pedagogical vocation on her YouTube channel with Ievan polkka tutorial videos in English, which already have over 1.3 million views.

Work as a Producer

Hanni Autere has produced tens of concerts, the largest of which have been performed by around a hundred people. In her work as a producer, Autere utilizes her versatile expertise in the field of music. She has received excellent feedback from e.g. the pianist and composer Iiro Rantala, the rector of the Pop & Jazz conservatory Janne Murto and many others who performed at the events she organized.
